GGTW Clinches Playoffs With 33-14 Victory

October 7, 2004:
For the third straight year, God's Gift To Women is heading to the playoffs. After winning in Week 1 19-12 over the Mighty Ducks and defeating Sammy A 33-16, GGTW improved to 2-0 and made the playoffs. Week 2 was rained out and will not be made up. GGTW will look to remain undefeated next Wednesday when they take on the Seminoles at 7:30.
Week 1 was a match-up of two titans in the Flag-Football League. GGTW took the early lead with a touchdown pass from Chris Starck to Sophomore Wide Out Matt Eckel. Defensively, GGTW remained strong despite the absence of Defensive Lineman Joey Bayas, the Defense repeatedly shut down the Mighty Ducks. Interceptions by Eckel and Chris Coblyn and pressure and sacks from Lenz Bayas and Tommy Hajj kept the Mighty Ducks to 12 points. The star of the game was Pat Culhane who got two touchdown passes and played tight defense at corner.
Week 3 pinned GGTW against the undefeated Sammy A team. After scoring quickly on two deep passes to Eckel, Starck and the offense struggled to find some rhythem. Meanwhile, the defense battled despite some questionable calls from the referees. Nick Castellano, Blake Farland, and Coblyn applied plenty of pressure to Sammy A's Wide Outs. Culhane intercepted a pass and returned it to give GGTW great field position. In the second half, Starck spread the ball around and threw touchdown passes to Offensive Lineman Marc Famiglietti, Kelby Akin, and Farland. The play of the game came when Starck launched a ball down field to a covered Coblyn who dove and made the catch on the one-yard line.
